The Río Tinajas near to Ceiba is an absolute insider's tip offering lots of fun for persons of any age. Anyone who will take their time to find this river for the first time, which as many others flows from the rain forrest El Yunque into the valley, will be rewarded by breathtaking views of natural pools and slides, waterfalls and by baths in clear refreshing water. However, you should only take this trip if it hasn't been raining for some days before, as otherwise there might be too much water flowing down from the mountains. But if you go, make sure to bring your swimming things!

To reach Río Tinajas go from Fajardo in the direction of Ceiba take exit 5 right after the Ceiba toll station and then turn right. Now you are on the PR-975. After you have reached its end, the Rio Tinajas is only one minute away. Please see directions for the exact position.

Doubtless it is the big natural pools located 1 km up the river which are the main attraction here. They invite you to swim, barbecue or swing from the rocks into the water on lianas. Mother nature has even created a slide for use to enjoy! If you come here with friends or family, you can spend a wonderful day full of fun in nature. Especially in summer this location is absolutely to be recommended. In the hot months of the year nothing is more refreshing than a bath in the cool rivers of El Yunque rain forrest!

There are two possibilities of reaching the pools from the parking lots: One is via the hidden path above the river, the other by walking directly along the stream. The path starts at the end of the street and is marked by a gate. The easiest possibility might be to ask somebody for directions when you're there or to just follow a group.
