Condado Beach is only a few minutes away from
Old San Juan and is lined by various big hotels. Although you are almost always surrounded by people here, Condado - just like any other beach in Puerto Rico - is a place for recreation.
Apart from the tourists, you can also see many people who come to the beach to exercise. And as there are good waves sometimes - surfboarding is a very popular sportive activity here. You can often see people sitting on their surfboards and waiting for a bigger wave.
The ice cream and beverage vendors, who come by from time to time, strolling along the beach with their little carts, are a typical sight in Condado and Isla Verde. They are very friendly, especially if you show them your “customer trust” by buying something off them. And you can certainly do that without hesitation. Even though an iced bottle might be more expensive here compared to the supermarket, it is still much cheaper than hotel prices. And what is more, it is a way of supporting people who make their living as vendors.
Like in
Isla Verde, here too, the police patrol the beach on quads and sometimes on horses. Moreover, many policemen in civies are present, thus making the beach a save place especially for tourists.
